Nothing’s better than fruity sorbet on a hot summer day -- and that goes for your eyelids too. “Pastel eye shadow is very in for spring and summer,” says New York City-based makeup artist Kristen Arnett. “It goes anywhere from light sorbet pastel to a more intense pop of color that’s still quite sheer.” Think lime green, lemon yellow, melon and raspberry.
Arnett suggests lining the eyes with a deeper version of the hue, then washing the same color over the lid. Start by lining the eyes with either a powder shadow and a liner brush, or a matching eyeliner pencil. Then, apply the shadow to the rest of the lid with a fluffy eye shadow brush. Stop short of the brown bone and blend in. As always, finish with a coat of black mascara and keep the rest of your makeup simple so lips and cheeks don’t compete with your colorful eyes.
